If the baby is not teething, this means the baby is biting because of being bored or as a playful habit. An infant biting because of boredom typically looks uninterested in breastfeeding as well as nurses without excitement. Discontinue breastfeeding a bored baby when he or she is biting and have an interactive activity to help alleviate the boredom. While an infant who is playful commonly bites the hardest. A playful biting infant is viewing the nipple as a toy and doesn’t that he or she is hurting you. Educate the playful biting infant by loudly saying “ouch” (not yelling) and stop nursing for a while. After a minute, try to breastfeed the baby again. If the baby bites again, repeat the procedure.
